The Hunt Lectures

The Thomas E. Hunt, Jr., M.D. The lecture was established in 2008 to honor Dr. Thomas E. Hunt, Jr., M.D. in recognition for serving as MedChi’s informal historian and longtime contribution to the care of the needy. 

Dr. Hunt died on December 24, 2017 after a brief illness. His legacy at MedChi will live on through this lecture series.

Dr. Hunt was a retired orthopedic surgeon who practiced in Baltimore.

The Hunt History of Maryland Medicine Lecture honors those who have made a significant contribution to medicine, past, and present.

2021 Hunt Lecture “The 1918 Flu Pandemic and Lessons Learned”

The Center for a Healthy Maryland was delighted to welcome Philip Mackowiak, M.D.,  Emeritus Professor of Medicine and the Carolyn Frenkil and Selvin Passen History of Medicine Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park as the 2021 speaker for the Thomas E. Hunt, Jr., MD History of Maryland Medicine Lecture.
