Advancing Solutions to Domestic Violence
The Center for a Healthy Maryland helps create systems that equip providers and support survivors.
Partnering for Stronger Communities
Effective domestic violence response requires more than individual training—it requires organizational readiness.
Domestic violence is both a healthcare issue and a community issue. Meaningful change requires collaboration across healthcare systems, domestic violence organizations, public health agencies, educators, and community leaders.
CHMD partners with hospitals, clinics, health systems, and community health organizations to strengthen policies, workflows, referral networks, and institutional response strategies.
Together, we help organizations move from awareness to action by creating consistent, survivor-centered practices across the continuum of care.
The Center serves as a statewide convener and connector, helping organizations work together to:
- Strengthen referral networks
- Improve survivor access to services
- Expand trauma-informed care practices
- Coordinate community response efforts
- Advance public health and prevention goals
When systems work together, survivors receive better support and communities become stronger.
Program support includes:
- Agency readiness assessments
- Clinical workflow consultation
- Referral pathway development
- Policy and protocol guidance
- Staff education and implementation support
- Community partnership coordination
Together, we can create healthcare systems that recognize, respond to, and support survivors with compassion, dignity, and care.
